From April till November it is high season. The short visit takes place in the afternoon/evening (precise hours to be confirmed).
We aim to see wild bears and other animals from a hide located close to one of the many places where bears used to be fed until this year. The main purpose was to keep the bears in the forest instead of feeding from the garbage bins in the towns and villages around or attacking the farms in that specific area. Usually we are successful in seeing bears, but as there are wild animals involved – nothing is guaranteed! They might decide to come out only after dark

Program Description
Wild bears near Brasov can involve an easy walk of max. 5-10 minutes on easy-to-moderate difficulty path to get to the hide. This is a smasll cabin where you sit and watch wildlife through a window. You need to wear comfortable shoes if we are walking in the forest, dark and dull tops and no strong smells. You also need to be relatively still and quiet for about one hour inside the hide.
You will need to wear dull colors and appropriate clothes and shoes for a short walk in the forest, and to not use any lights while taking photos (this includes the light on your phone screen used to take selfies)
Important notes on wildlife watching:
– the food placed out by the foresters in the forest has NO tourist purposes, and most bears and other wildlife do not even get close to the hide as the forest provides more than enough food for them.
– depending on the hide we use on that day, there might be a short and safe walk from the place where we park the car to the hide itself and back (max. 10 minutes on almost flat terrain); you are always accompanied by a wildlife guide and a ranger, who both know how to handle any “unforeseen” situation
– you stay at the hide until the ranger decides it is time to move out, but minimum 1h (there is no toilet or other facilities you can use)
– the photo fee is included for non-commercial photos, but you will have to avoid using any kind of light, to not disturb the bears
You need to avoid using the flash, cover the red light on you camera (visible when the light decreases) and minimize the light on your phone screens for selfies
As this is a very popular activity – you need to book it way in advance
Transport is not included from Brasov, but can be provided upon request for an extra fee
This activity is very popular. It is very likely there will be other people joining your group at the bear hide. These people might come also from other tour operators and we cannot be held responsible for their behavior and state of health

Profile
Wild bears near Brasov requires a very low level of fitness. You do need, though, to be able to stay relatively still and quiet for a few hours (no toilet available during the visit).
Costs
Cost: 65 Euro per person (shared trip) – minimum 2 persons paying, if one – check if we have a formed group for that day
This cost includes the photo fee for non-commercial purposes (through a glass window). There is another hide with openings for camera lenses, but this implies an extra photo fee and is booked only by prior request. Contact us if you want to book it.
